“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder.” — Isaiah 9:6
Tonight, we stand at the pivot point of history. Before this night, the promise was a whisper, a shadow, a prophecy echoed through centuries of waiting. After this night, the promise was a Person.
Isaiah prophesied that the government would be upon His shoulder.
Think about the weight of that word: Government. The government of the cosmos. The administration of justice. The ordering of chaos. The weight of every sin, every sorrow, every broken law, every shattered heart.
We spend our lives trying to carry the government of our own little kingdoms. We try to govern our reputation, our finances, our children’s futures, and our own safety. We act as if we are the Atlas of our own world, holding the sky up with our trembling arms.
And the weight of it crushes us. We were not designed to carry the government. Our shoulders are too small. We buckle under the anxiety of outcome. We lose sleep trying to control things that are uncontrollable.
He came to carry what we could not lift. He came to take the weight of the world off your back.
But listen closely: This King did not come to take sides; He came to take over. He is not looking for a place in your life; He demands the throne of your life. He is not a consultant you visit on Sundays; He is the King who demands total allegiance.
As we stand on the edge of Christmas, do not let this just be a holiday. Do not let it be just nostalgia and lights. Let it be a coronation. Re-enthrone Him in your heart.
Is the government of your business on His shoulder, or yours? Is the government of your anxiety on His shoulder, or yours? Is the government of your future on His shoulder, or yours?
He came to carry it. Let Him. The King is here. Let every heart prepare Him room—not as a guest, but as the Sovereign Lord of All.
The Warrior’s Prayer: Sovereign Lord, I transfer the government of my life onto Your shoulders tonight. I release the weight of control. I release the burden of outcome. You are the King, and I am Your servant. Rule in my heart without rival. Reign in my house without restriction. I crown You Lord of All. Amen.
