Owning Your Story

October 15, 2025

“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” — Revelation 12:11

For years, I edited my story. I told the safe parts — the parts that made me look good, respectable, strong. But I left the painful parts on the cutting room floor. The failures, the sins, the betrayals I endured. And because I refused to tell the whole story, I never walked in the whole measure of healing.

The enemy thrives in secrecy. He wants you silent about the parts of your story that hurt the most. Because as long as you stay silent, shame holds power. But once you bring your story into the light, it becomes a weapon. Revelation says we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony. The blood of Christ provides the power; your story drives it home.

Think of the Samaritan woman in John 4. She had been through multiple husbands, living in shame and isolation. But after encountering Jesus, she ran back to her town and told her story: “Come see a man who told me everything I ever did.” Her testimony brought others to Christ.

Brother, your story matters. Not the cleaned-up version. Not the edited highlight reel. The real one. Because it’s in the messy parts that God’s redemption shines brightest.

Don’t be afraid to tell it. Don’t hide the chapters you wish were different. The story you are most reluctant to share may be the very story that sets another man free.

Your story isn’t just yours — it’s a weapon God intends to use. Own it. Tell it. And watch the enemy’s grip break in the lives of those who hear it.
