“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you.” — Ezekiel 36:26
There are seasons when a man’s heart feels like it has stopped beating. Not literally, but spiritually. The fire that once burned is gone. The dreams that once gave him energy have turned to ash. He still goes through the motions — working, providing, showing up — but inside he feels hollow.
This happens when disappointment crushes us. When prayers go unanswered. When the addiction cycle whispers, “You’ll never change.” When betrayal leaves us questioning our worth. Slowly, without even realizing it, a man gives up. He whispers to himself, “What’s the point?” and his heart goes numb.
But God is the God of resurrection. He looked at Israel in exile — a people convinced their story was over — and said, “I will give you a new heart.” He didn’t say, “I’ll fix the old one.” He promised something better: a heart of flesh where there was only stone, a Spirit-filled center where there had been only numbness.
Think of Ezekiel’s vision of dry bones. An entire valley of death and despair. God asked him, “Can these bones live?” From a human perspective, the answer was no. But the Spirit breathed, and an army rose.
Brother, if God can raise dry bones, He can restore your heart. No matter how numb, no matter how scarred, no matter how broken, His Spirit can breathe life back into you.
Don’t accept the lie that you are finished. Don’t settle for survival. Ask Him to awaken your heart again. The Lion of Judah still roars inside your chest. And your story, far from over, may just be at its most important beginning.
